BRIEF
INTRODUCTION
The Institute of Building Technology and Science is a secondary discipline of architecture, covering professional directions such as building construction, building physics (including acoustics, thermal environments and daylight), building equipment, building structure, and building heritage protection technology. Focusing on the country’s global demand for green, low-carbon, healthy buildings and environments, the institute has formed four core directions: inheritance and sustainable use of existing buildings, green and low-carbon environments, design and construction technology, as well as urban and building environments.
INSTITUTE VALUES
1. Based on the preventive protection needs of architectural heritage in the new era, systematic research is carried out in four aspects: the degradation mechanism of architectural heritage, monitoring and testing technologies, numerical simulation analysis technologies, and risk assessment approaches for building heritage degradation.
2. A systematic dynamic model for architectural low-carbon evaluation is well constructed, which develops quantitative models for building performance and realizes the sustainable and low-carbon health development of single building environments.
3. The component method of building design theory was proposed and developed to address the compatibility problem between architectural design methods and building industrialization, as well as several key technologies, such as component classification, component coding systems and calculation models of building components.
4. This research field uses scientific methods such as measurement and simulation to explore the quality of urban environments as well as citizens’ health within the living environments.
