Bachelor of Architecture (International)
Introduction
This English-taught undergraduate program in architecture is established on the world-class architectural platform of Southeast University, the origin of Chinese modern architectural education. Jointly delivered by the School of Architecture and the Internationalization Demonstration School of Architecture, it features an international curriculum developed by renowned Chinese and international faculty. The program targets the development needs of global human settlements, aiming to cultivate innovative leaders who possess profound expertise in architecture, broad interdisciplinary knowledge, and an international outlook. Graduates will have solid professional capabilities, excellent vocational ethics, outstanding management and leadership skills, as well as a global mindset that values cross-cultural collaboration. They are expected to play pivotal roles in sustainable human settlement, cultural heritage conservation, and inclusive community developmentacross the world.
(1) Professional Competence: Possess high-level comprehensive design abilities, with a strong theoretical foundation and a solid knowledge structure in architecture. Graduates will systematically master architectural design, history, technology, and digital tool applications. They can adeptly integrate interdisciplinary knowledge such as ecological technologies, cultural heritage preservation, and project management to creatively solve complex architectural challenges under diverse global scenarios.
(2) Vocational Ethics: Adhere to international ethical standards and norms in the architectural industry, uphold the belief that "architecture serves all humanity," and exhibit a strong sense of mission towards serving globally with cross-cultural empathy. Graduates will understand the architectural laws, regulations, technical standards, and industry trends of different countries/regions, respect cultural diversity and local architectural heritage, and accurately respond to the genuine needs of local communities while earning the trust and recognition of international peers and clients.
(3) Leadership Skills: Demonstrate effective cross-cultural communication and teamwork abilities, capable of assuming leading roles in multidisciplinary, multinational teams. Graduates will be adept at coordinating interests among engineers, policymakers, and community representatives to facilitate the efficient implementation of designs that balance local adaptability with global foresight, promoting mutual learning and sharing of architectural practices across regions.
(4) Global Awareness: Maintain habits of lifelong learning and systematic thinking, continuously tracking the latest developments in global architectural and technological trends. Graduates will be aware of universal global issues, including public health, social equity, and sustainable development, continuously optimize the built environment in their service areas throughout their careers, actively shape a shared future for mankind, and contribute to the inclusive and resilient development of the global architectural industry.
(1) General Education Courses: Overview of Chinese Culture, Chinese Reading, Chinese Listening, Comprehensive Chinese, Elective General Education Courses.
(2) Foundation Courses: Introduction to architecture, Design Fundamentals I-II, Architectural Design I, Art and Media I-III, Global History of Architecture, History of Chinese Architecture, Contemporary Art and Architecture.
(3) Core Courses: Architectural Design II-VI, Architectural History and Theory, Building Structures and Construction, and Building Physics and Equipment.
(4) Practice Courses: Summer School Design Workshops, Engineering Practice I-II, and Graduation Project.
Students who complete all required credits specified in the program's curriculum within the designated study period and meet the requirement of "GPA ≥ 2.0" can apply for the award of Bachelor of Architecture.
