BRIEF
INTRODUCTION
The Landscape Architecture discipline at Southeast University traces its origins to the 1930s, when Professors Liu Dunzhen and Tong Jun pioneered research into Jiangnan classical garden studies. Subsequently advanced by distinguished scholars such as Professors Qi Kang, Pan Guxi, Du Shunbao, and Cheng Yuning, the discipline has continuously innovated and expanded its disciplinary boundaries, evolving into a comprehensive academic system encompassing Landscape planning and design, Landscape architecture history and heritage preservation, Earthscape planning and ecological restoration, and Landscape architecture engineering and technology.

As one of earliest Landscape Architecture disciplines in China, the Landscape Architecture discipline has consistently maintained a leading position in education and research in the field. It was designated as a Jiangsu Provincial Key Discipline (2010), Key Specialized Program (2012), Dominant Discipline (2014), and Branding Program (2019). It is also among the first batch of national first-class undergraduate program construction sites (2019) and a Double First-Class Discipline (2017, 2022). In the China Discipline Evaluation (CDE) by the Ministry of Education, it has achieved A ratings continuously (2013, 2017, and 2021), highlighting its sustained academic excellence.
Over the past century, the discipline has cultivated numerous talents in landscape design, management, education, and research. Notable alumni include Professor Cheng Yuning (recipient of IFLA Asia-Pac Luminary Awards), Professor Yu Yafang (winner of the Excellent Teacher Awards by Baosteel Education Foundation), Senior Engineer Zhu Xingtong (deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Planning and Design Group) among other distinguished figures who have made significant contributions to the field of landscape architecture.
