INTRODUCTION

The SEU’s Architectural Program was initiated in 1927 and is the first department of architecture established in China. As a core component of architectural disciplines, the Department of Architecture has long been committed to teaching reform and fulfilled its responsibilities as the director unit of the National Steering Committee for Architecture Education. The department has formulated professional education guidelines and standardized academic criteria, exerting a leading role among architectural institutions nationwide. In recent years, aligning with national development strategies and international architectural frontiers, it has responded to cutting-edge disciplinary advancements and major societal demands, emphasized the integration of cultural heritage with technological innovation, and dedicated itself to interdisciplinary convergence and collaborative innovation. This has enabled systematic innovation across the entire chain of disciplinary theories, methodologies, technologies, and application demonstrations.
